Bill L. Bird, 78, of Milan, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022, at his home. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. (noon) Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be two-hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the family.

Bill was born on August 11, 1943, in Iowa City, Iowa, a son of Jess and Eleanor (Rea) Bird. He married Peggy Myers on May 11, 1963, in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on September 17, 2012. Bill retired as a roofer at Townsend Roofing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Bill's memory include his children, Billy (Lee Ann) Bird Jr., Rock Island, Candy (David) VonMaur, Moline, and Lisa (Joe) Kososki, Milan; grandchildren, Jessica, Jeremiah, Kelly, Ryan, Samuel, Mikeala, Madison, and Leland; 9 great grandchildren; and siblings, Joyce Gragg, Bonnie Harland, Donna (Mick) Gragg, Dwight (Carolyn) Danner, Mike Danner, Jim Danner, and Brenda Vermillion.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; parents; and siblings, Don Bird, Roy Danner Jr., Virginia Lester, Connie Danner, Gary Bird, and Jerry Bird.
