Billy J. Ramsey, 90, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Per Mr. Ramsey's request there will be no services or visitation. Private inurnment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family. Billy was born on July 3, 1928 in Metropolis, Illinois, a son of Alfred and Edith (King) Ramsey. He married Ina James on December 7, 1949 in Metropolis. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2004. Mr. Ramsey was a cement finisher, working out of Cement Masons Local Hall No. 18, Area No. 544, Rock Island. He was a member of VFW Post No. 4177. He volunteered as a Little League Baseball coach, coaching his sons and later his grandsons. Billy enjoyed visiting the riverboats and going out to eat. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and had also served in the Illinois Army National Guard. Billy cherished his grandchildren. He loved the holidays and was the official "vegetable chopper" for his granddaughter, Cara`s cornbread dressing. Survivors include his children, Debra (Terry) Patrick, Milan and Dave (Mary) Ramsey, Milan; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and his many friends he met at Rosewood Care Center.
