IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Blanchie
Colvin
August 17, 1942 – October 5, 2025
Blanchie Colvin, 83, of Rock Island, IL, formally of Clarksdale, MS, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Memorial services for Ms. Colvin will be 11 am, Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.
Blanchie, affectionately known to family and friends as "Sister" was born on August 17, 1942, in Clarksdale, MS to Clarence and Parilee Colvin. Blanchie was a beautiful Spirit who knew the Lord. Although she may not have communicated as well as others because of a life-threatening disease as a child that she eventually overcame, she clearly demonstrated her love for God as well as her love for her family. She moved to Rock Island, IL, in 1988 along with her mother and sister, and her first priority was to join the local church her family attended, Tabernacle Baptist Church in Moline. She has been a member of Second Baptist Church in Rock Island, for the past 15 years. Blanchie was a free spirit who was active at the In Touch Adult Day Care in Moline, and was the life of the party there and at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center in Rock Island where she resided.
She enjoyed Bingo, movies, singing, and was very particular about making sure her hair and nails were done and her jewelry was intact. Special thank you to Teresa Carmack, the CNAs, and the staff of St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center for their support of Blanchie while she resided there.
Those left to cherish her memory are siblings Hewell (Joyce) Colvin and Robert (VonCille) Colvin, both of Rock Island, Issac (Elsie) Colvin, Lauderhill, FL, special friend, Bernice Brown, and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Eddie Colvin, Jewel Colvin, and Elaine Grossie.
