Bonnie Kay Curry, formerly Bonnie Brooks, 80, of Reynolds, passed away at home with her husband by her side on November 21, 2021, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's dementia.

Bonnie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard James Curry, who cared for her for many years at home. They exchanged their wedding vows on October 3, 1959. She leaves behind her children, David Curry, Davenport; Roger Curry, Monument, CO; Vickie Ireland, Milan; Marty Curry, Rock Island; Valerie Murray, Wolfeboro, NH; and Amanda Crose, Reynolds. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric Curry, Jordyn Curry, Brook Curry, and Haley Lavarte; and great grandchildren, Logan Keller and Cammy Paiva. She also has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

Bonnie was born in Rock Island on July 31, 1941. She attended Aledo and Rockridge High Schools, where she dated and then married her high school sweetheart, Richard Curry. She became a wonderful and the most loving mother to all of her children and a very caring wife. She had many interests and hobbies, including woodworking, decoupage, crocheting, gardening, and volunteering at the school library. She really loved helping children and was able to obtain her Associate degree from Black Hawk College in her 40's to become a teacher's aide in the Rockridge school district. She shared her joy of life and supported and guided so many countless children who would remember her for her kindness many years after they had graduated from school.

During her years, she would crochet afghans as presents for babies or weddings. As she expanded her hobbies, she crafted hand-made wooden foot stools. She would give these treasures as gifts, engraving them with her name and usually a tiny picture of herself from that year's school photo.

During their marriage, Bonnie and Dick took many adventurous trips together whether in their car or one of Dick's motorcycles. They ventured off to the Ozarks, Colorado, California, Hawaii, and New Hampshire. They both loved going to antique stores, attending flea markets, and spending time with their close friends.

Bonnie had the biggest of hearts and the kindest soul. She loved life and was always doing what she loved whether spending time with family, talking to strangers, or working on her crafts. Bonnie was one to always provide and give to others. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Reynolds Cemetery.
