Obituary

Bonnie C. Evans, 85, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday December 27, 2016 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.

Memorial services will be 3:00 p.m.  Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m  to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Bonnie was born December 18, 1931 in Centerville, Iowa to George and Margaret Clark. She was raised from an early age in the home of Orval and Mina Fry, Fairfield, IA. She married Edward J. Evans on September 2, 1951 at the First Methodist Church, Fairfield. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2004.

A graduate of Marycrest College, Davenport, Iowa, Bonnie retired from Deere & Company Administrative Center in 1992. She previously had taught at Alleman High School and Blackhawk College. She was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, where she had served as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of the Administrative Board and Leadership Council. She had also served as a board member for the American Cancer Society and American Association of University Women.

Survivors include her son, Roger (Jeri) Evans, Highlands Ranch, Colorado; daughter, Jane McGinnis (Mike Werthmann), Rock Island; grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Croegaert, Geneseo, and Matt (Becky) McGinnis, Taylor Ridge; great-grandchildren, Charli, Kylie and Jonathan Croegaert, and Waylon McGinnis; sister, Barbara Sellmann, East Moline; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Murray (Lynn) Evans Williamsburg, IA, Ruth Baker, Mesa,  AZ, Gladys Beasley, Marengo, IA, and Larry (Linda) Raasch, East Moline; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie's family deeply appreciates the warm, compassionate, and loving care provided by all the staff at Silver Cross Nursing Center. Also, a special Thank You to the team from UnityPoint Hospice. Our heartfelt gratitude to Mickey Dotson, a longtime friend and frequent visitor to our mother until the end.
