Bonnie K. Hunt, 77, of Coal Valley passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Genesis Medical

Center, Silvis.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly

Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Bonnie was born on January 13, 1946, in Emporia, Kansas, a daughter of Pleasant Lemuel and

Bertha (Bradford) Scales. She married Edwin A. Hunt on July 13, 1962. She graduated from Gridley (KS) High School and originally trained as a nurse, before transitioning into banking and real estate.

Bonnie taught real estate courses to many local agents over the years and always used her family stories and sense of humor to make her courses more interesting. In 1978 Bonnie volunteered with the Iowa League of Women Voters and ran for Davenport City Council.

Bonnie loved history, especially President Lincoln, Native Americans and the Civil War. Like her mother, she was a gifted and prolific writer. Bonnie wrote impactful poetry and short stories based on her family experiences. She was known for her loud "woo-hoo" cheer at her kids and grandkids sporting events. Bonnie's many other hobbies and interests included crocheting, quilting, reading, music, collecting owls, watching Star Trek, and cheering for her Hawkeyes and Cubbies. Bonnie, was a sharp and sometimes flamboyant dresser, with her own style. She liked bling and sparkle on any outfit.

Bonnie was a selfless person, who always put her family first. Throughout her life, she lovingly provided long-term care for multiple family members including siblings and parents. Bonnie was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish Bonnie's memory include her husband, Edwin Hunt; children, Jody Rowe

(Robert Bradfield), Christopher Hunt, and Mark (Jen) Hunt; grandchildren, Brandon, Amber,

Ryan, Tony, Jimmy, Julia, and Ethan; great grandchildren, Ryker and Esme; sister, Vicki Jo Scales;

nephew, Cliff Wahl; and special canine companion, Belle. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ann Wahl; and brothers, Bill and David Scales.
