Obituary

Bonnie V. Saunders, 89, of Milan, passed away Saturday January 13, 2018 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan.

Bonnie was born January 26, 1928 in Little York, IL, a daughter of Ralph E. and Grace McIntyre Brown. She attended New Boston schools, and later married Stanford "Stan" L. Saunders on May 15, 1944 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2009.

In earlier years, Bonnie worked at the former Servus Rubber, Rock Island. In 1968, she began working for the Rock Island Public School District. She retired as the cafeteria manager at Thomas Jefferson Elementary in 1994.

Bonnie was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan, where she enjoyed participating in many church activities. She also was active in the Order of Eastern Star in earlier years.  Bonnie especially enjoyed tending her yard, flowers and garden. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and making things for her family and friends.

Her favorite times were spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are her son, Stephen Saunders, and his wife Pamela, Rock Island; daughter, Deborah Youngblood, and her husband Kenneth, Milan; grandchildren, Christopher "Fuzzy" (Elizabeth) Saunders, Cameron Saunders, Bryan Saunders, Alison (Nicholas) Boisvert, Nathan (Kathleen) Youngblood and Nicholas (Laura) Youngblood; great grandchildren, Alaina and Jack Saunders and Noah, Peter and Grant Youngblood; brother, Hubert Brown, Rock Island; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant twin daughters, and ten brothers and sisters.
