Bonnie J. Thompson, 88, Rock Island, IL passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at UnityPoint-Trinity Hospital in Rock Island. There will be a visitation from 10-11:00 AM with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or a local animal shelter.

Bonnie was born on April 28, 1935 to Batie and Violet (Wilkes) Ray in Davenport, IA where she grew up and graduated high school. On June 30, 1961 she was united in marriage to Jerry Thompson in Galesburg, IL. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their two sons. Bonnie was a homemaker and worked at Von Maur for 18 years until her retirement.

She was a member of South Park Presbyterian and recently, First Christian Church in East Moline. Bonnie was an animal lover who had a large collection of cat memorabilia. She was an avid reader, especially romance and James Patterson novels, and enjoyed swapping and discussing books with her close friend. Bonnie cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.

Bonnie will be greatly missed by her husband of 62 years, Jerry; sons, Timothy (Shari) Thompson and Tony (La Donna) Thompson; stepmother, Marci Ray; brother-in-law, Tom (Carol) Thompson; grandchildren, Samantha Rosenthal, Sarah Thompson, and Katie (Trevor) Hatcher; and a great-grandson on the way.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Donald Ray.
