Brenda J. Butler, 66 of East Moline, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her residence with her family at her side.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Brenda was born on October 13, 1950 in Rock Island, the daughter George and Bessie (Mitchell) Butler Sr.  She married Ricky Rummels Sr in 1975, they later seperated.  Brenda had a long time special relationship with Cleveland Eaton, the father of her daughter.  She worked as an editor at Jet magazine, attended Northwestern University specializing in hypertension, worked in administration at John Deere, and was disabled for the last several years.

Brenda is survived by her children, Keena (Lisa) Kelley, East Moline and Ricky Rummels Jr, Rock Island; grandchildren, Keenan Rogers, Kentrelle Butler, Tysen Rummels, Hynessi Carter, and Joniyah Madison; 4 great grandchildren; and siblings, Nadine Jones, Baltimore, MD, Bonnie (Rufus) Welch, St. Louis, MO, Scottie (Joyce) Butler, Rock Island, and Paquita (James) Richardson, Rock Island.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George Butler Jr., Michael Butler and John Butler, Sr.; and sister, Heddy M. Harris.
