Brian L. Kempf , 75, of Rock Island, passed away Wednesday February 16, 2022 in Rock Island.

A memorial visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Following the visitation, inurnment and military honors presented by Moline American Legion Post 246 will be at 2:30 p.m. at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Those attending the inurnment are to be at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Brian was born May 3, 1946 in Rock Island, Illinois, a son of August and Gladys Muhleman Kempf. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1964. He then served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he attended and graduated from Western Illinois University. He continued his studies and received an additional degree from Black Hawk College.

He was employed for many years with Handy True Value Hardware. He also enjoyed working with computers. Brian was an avid supporter and attendee of Rock Island High School sports.

Surviving are his brothers, Marvin (Susan) Kempf, Wichita, KS, Kenneth Kempf, Milan, IL and William "Bill" (Joelyn) Kempf, Milan; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Donna Willis.
