Obituary

Brian Ripple, 39, of Rock Island passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at home.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the Knox Chapel. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and wear their favorite team shirt. Private inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in care of the Brian Ripple Memorial at IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union, donations will be used to support Kings Harvest Animal Shelter and the Angel Tree for Salvation Army.

Brian was born on November 10, 1985 in Moline, IL, a son of David and Lynn (DeSmet) Ripple. He graduated from Moline High School in 2004. He was a proud John Deere employee and a fourth generation UAW member, serving as his brothers and sisters as Vice President of Local 281, Davenport.

Brian diligently served his Union through CAP, the worksite political-legislative arm of the local union. Brian earned his position as Chair of SE Iowa CAP, was a CAP delegate to UAW Local 281 and served on the Iowa State Board for CAP. Brian never backed away from a conversation or debate about which politicians stood with working class people and volunteered many hours supporting those candidates whether it was knocking on doors, phone banking or using social media.

Brian was a kind soul who enjoyed helping others. His unique sense of humor was appreciated by his friends and family. His hobbies included golfing and keeping up with sports. He was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Cardinals.

Those left to cherish Brian's memory include his beloved dog, Sam; parents, Dave and Lynn, Rock Island; brother, Jason (Holly) Ripple, Davenport; sister, Krissy Ripple, East Moline; nieces and nephews, Carrie, Samantha, Mackenzie, Justin, Kamryn and Knoah; grandparents, Tom and Jan DeSmet, Rock Island and Earline Ripple, Rock Island; and many special friends who were his family.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandpa, David Ripple.
