It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Franklin Hill, Jr., aged 61, of Leslie, Arkansas, formerly of Edgington, Illinois. Bruce departed this life on Sunday, April 26, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer and an extended illness. Following his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and the family will hold private services. A public memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, from 4 PM to 6 PM at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan, Illinois 61264. Inurnment will take place at Edgington Cemetery in Edgington, Illinois, where military honors will be presented. In honor of Bruce’s love for animals, memorial contributions may be made to the QC Animal Welfare Center in Milan.
Bruce was born on November 22, 1964, in Rock Island, Illinois, the beloved son of Bruce Sr. and Elizabeth Titus-Mosher Hill. A proud graduate of Rockridge High School in 1983, he served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps.
Professionally, Bruce dedicated many years to residential and commercial construction. He later joined the team at the Edgington Grain Elevator, where he thrived for 15 years, earning the role of foreman. In his younger years, he showcased his adventurous spirit by riding bulls in various rodeos, including those in Rock Island County and New Windsor, gaining recognition with several championship belt buckles, each a testament to his skill and tenacity. In the recent year, Bruce moved to Leslie, Arkansas, to share quality time with his daughter and cherished grandchildren.
He is dearly missed by those who survive him: his mother, Elizabeth Hill of Edgington; his daughter, Ashley (Jeffrey) Price of Leslie, Arkansas; and his beloved grandchildren, Madison and Leslie McCoy, both of Leslie. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa (Jack) Fore of O’Fallon, Illinois; many nieces and nephews, including Kailey (Stephen) Dean, Mereideth Neff, Kerrigan (Chris) Neff, and Caleb (Ashley) Neff, as well as three step-nieces and twelve great-nieces and nephews.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, who hold a special place in the hearts of his family. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support during this difficult time.
