Bruce F. Hill, Sr., 77, of Edgington, died Saturday, June 15, 2019 at home surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. A funeral mass will be 10 am Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia. Burial will be in Edgington Cemetery, Edgington. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm followed by visitation from 4-7 pm on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Memorials may be made in care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia.
Bruce was born in Moline, IL on September 13, 1941, the son of Elwood K. and Patricia Harris Hill. He married Elizabeth Mosher-Titus on August 24, 1963 at the former St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rock Island. He graduated from Rock Island High School.
Bruce worked 34 years as a machinist and quality control engineer for John Deere Harvester. After retirement, he worked for Motel 6 for 10 years.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Andalusia, where he previously served as the family life coordinator. He enjoyed woodworking, creating artwork, music, and loved working in his yard. Bruce cherished and loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Hill, Edgington; children, Bruce Hill, Jr., Edgington and Lisa (Jack) Fore, O'Fallon, IL.; grandchildren, Kailey, Merideth, Caleb, and Kerrigan Neff; three step-grandchildren, Lindsey Johnson, Kelsey Laughhunn, and Ally Young: great-granddaughter, Stella Rose Meeker; two step-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Elwood K. Hill, Jr., East Moline, Patti Jayne Salyers, Milan, and Bradford R. Hill, Rock Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
