Bruce H. Pieper, 95, Rock Island, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Silver Cross Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavillion, Rock Island.
A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, and can also be watched at www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream. Visitation will be 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to United Way of the QC or to the Quad City Music Guild.
Bruce was born on July 10, 1926, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Davis) Pieper. He married Norma Smith on October 6, 1945 in Rock Island. Bruce retired from IH, East Moline where he was a material handling engineer. He was an executive on loan from IH to United Way of the QC for many years. He is a member of 15th Avenue Christian Church, Rock Island, and former member of Memorial Christian Church. Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. Bruce and his late wife, Norma, enjoyed performing and volunteering with the Quad City Music Guild theater in Moline, where performed in 18 leading roles. He was also a performer at Play Crafters, Circa 21, and many other venues around the Quad Cities. Bruce was a proud veteran serving in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.
Survivors include: children, Greg (Mary) Pieper, Chris (Becky) Pieper, Debra (Larry) Wakeland, David (Sharon) Pieper, Kevin (Valeree) Pieper, and Bonnie (Robert) Warnock; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Pieper; his parents; daughter, Judy Abbott; sisters, Ruth Collins, Darlene Justesen, Thelma Engman; and brother, Raymond.
