Obituary

Bud (Willis) Doxsee, a loving husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 29, 2024 with his beloved wife, Cheryl, by his side. Born on September 14, 1939, in Alpha, Illinois, Bud led a fulfilling life dedicated to service, love, and laughter.

Bud was a proud Army veteran, having served his country with honor. Following his military service, he found great fulfillment as an ISS Computer Systems Manager for International Harvester (later CASE/IH), where he worked diligently until his retirement in 1991.

In 1994, Bud found true happiness when he married his cherished wife Cheryl Becker Doxsee. Together, they shared a deep bond of love and companionship for 30 beautiful years. Their move to Florida in 1995 brought new adventures, including cruising, casino visits, and golf outings with their dear friends Ralph and Linda Proctor. Despite his many joys, Bud always savored his 2 1/2 glasses of Merlot wine, a simple pleasure that brought him great contentment.

Bud's commitment to community and service was exemplified through his membership of the Masonic Order and dedication to the Florida Shriner's Club. He volunteered tirelessly for years, driving children to Shriner's Hospitals in Tampa and Galveston. Bud's playful spirit shone bright as he donned his clown suit and makeup to march in local parades alongside his fellow Shriner's.

Bud's memory will be cherished by his loving wife Cheryl and his children Lonny Doxsee, Jason (and Sara) Doxsee, Kami Doxsee Olmstead, Korry Doxsee, Brian (and Heather) Gonzales, Lesa (and Scott Goodenough); his grandchildren Justin and Jonah Olmstead,  Nolan and Alec Doxsee, Madison Rico, Ella Gonzales, Andrew Goodenough, Megan Goodenough; his great-grandson Liam Doxsee; his nieces Missy Smith, Paula Dooley, Patti Dooley; his nephew Mike Dooley, and his beloved cat Callie. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, mother, father, and sister, Shirley Dooley.

A memorial service honoring Bud's life and legacy will be held at 1:00 pm on August 24, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Bud's kindness, humor, and unwavering love will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

Online condolences may be left for Bud's family on his tribute wall.
