C. Stephen Runde, 64, of East Moline, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015 at UPH-Trinity, Rock Island.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, January 30, 2015 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will take place at National Cemetery, Rock Island, with military honors performed by Vietnam Veteran Honor Guard #299. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alleman High School or Quad City PAWS.

Steve was born May 10, 1950 in Rock Island, the son of Lloyd and Erma (Clark) Runde. He married Deborah Glendon on August 4, 1978, in Rock Island. Steve was a member of the VVA Chapter 299. He worked at Moline Plow and Planter, and before retirement he worked at the Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer. He enjoyed animals, reading, and watching the Chicago Blackhawks. Steve will be remembered for his strong will to battle and overcome many medical challenges he has faced during his lifetime. Steve's life saving liver transplant was January 3, 1992 and his living donor kidney transplant was September 11, 2003. Even with his determination, courage and strength this challenge was not to be met.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Deborah Runde; step-mother, Carol Runde; two brothers, Kirk and Brad Runde; niece, Ashley Rivera; step-sisters, Dawn (Jerry) Downs and Kim (Joe) Pollack; many nieces and nephews; Tonette Tubbs (Kidney-donor angel); and his best buddy, Austin Tubbs. He was preceded in death by his parents.
