Carol L. Atkins, 86, of East Moline, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Church of Peace United Church of Christ, 1114 12th St, Rock Island, IL 61201. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Carol's name to Rescued, 2105 16th St, Moline, IL, 61265.
Carol was born September 11, 1937, to Raymond and Evelyn (Kurth) Miller. She married William L. Atkins on October 20, 1956, at Church of Peace United Church of Christ, Rock Island. William preceded her in death on December 16, 2015. Carol worked at THE Rock Island Bank in many positions including a bookkeeper, ATM department worker, and answering phones.
She was a lifelong member of Church of Peace United Church of Christ where she was a member and treasurer of the charitable Martha Rolf Circle. Carol and her husband often enjoyed taking rides on their motorcycle all around the US. She loved spending time with her great-grandchildren and attending as many of their concerts and plays as she could. She always had a soft spot for her dachshunds.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicky (James) Earel, and Rick (Kelly) Atkins; grandchildren, James (Anne) Earel Jr., Joshua (Shawna) Earel, Travis (Felicia Castillo) Atkins, and Sara (Mike) DeKeyrel; great-grandchildren, Isaac Earel, Jonah Earel, Ellianna and Olivia Atkins, and Carsen, Cain, Callen, and Addison DeKeyrel; and siblings, Connie (Jack) Yeocum, Charlene (John) Alatorre, Ed (Kathy) Miller.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Corinne (Ernie) Colclasure, and furry friends, Teddy and Wrigley.
