Carol E. Miedema, 72, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.  Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a memorial service for Carol will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Carol was born on May 20, 1944 in San Diego, CA, the daughter of Ray and Margaret Wilkinson Deppe.  She was employed by Modern Woodmen for many years, beginning as a receptionist and retiring as a cafeteria worker in 1989.

Carol was a member of Community Baptist Church in Andalusia, where she enjoyed playing the piano.  She also greatly enjoyed knitting and helping others as an ombudsman at Alternatives for the Older Adult.  She cherished all of the time spent with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Wendy and Robert; grandson, Christopher, all of Rock Island; and siblings, Maryann (Bob) Leach, Plano, TX and Richard Deppe of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Steve and Mark and brother, Michael.
