Carol Ann Lear, 89, of Rock Island, IL, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, May 12th, 2025 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rock Island, with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be left in care of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) or Augustana College Music Department, Rock Island.
Carol was born on October 11, 1935 in Moline, IL, a daughter of Edgar and Helen (Mills) Johnson. She graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island. Carol married Fred M. Lear on June 14, 1958 and he preceded her in death on July 12, 2024.
Carol worked as a secretary for First National Bank in Rock Island and later Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moline before retiring.
Carol was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rock Island, where she was a member of the choir. She was a talented musician and taught piano lessons for many years. Her hobbies included traveling to Colorado and spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Chris (Lyn) Lear and Lori Landbo (Tom Baker); grandchildren, Sydney Lear and Ethan Lear; siblings, David Johnson and Ginny (Fred) Behnken; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
