Carol N. Martin, 78, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday October 7, 2014 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Inurnment will be at Reynolds Cemetery, Reynolds, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Carol Nancy Dellitt was born on May 23, 1936 in Moline, a daughter of Alvin and Nellie Johnson Dellitt. She married John E. Martin on October 8, 1955 in Hamlet, IL. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1993.
Carol grew up on a farm near Reynolds, IL. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1954. She was employed at Royal Neighbors of America, Rock Island. She retired in February of 1998.
Carol was a member of Two Rivers United Methodist Church, Rock Island, and previously volunteered in the church office for a number of years, and volunteered at the church's meal site on Saturdays. Carol also was a member of the Friends of the Rock Island Library and Royal Neighbors of America, Camp 281.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan L. Martin, Virginia Beach, VA; two grandchildren, Madison and Noah Martin, both of West Des Moines, IA; four nieces, Julie (Mitch) Smith, Moline, Cindy (Zack) Hughes, Loves Park, IL, Colleen (Kent) Hessman, Reynolds, and Janice (Brian) Hipkins, Cleveland, IL; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great niece and five great-great nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, David J. Martin; and her sister, Patricia Bozard.
