Carol Lee Sierens, 79, of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Saturday September 30, 2017 at Mayo Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ.
A Memorial Mass will be held 9:30am on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:00pm Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, with a rosary recited at 4:00pm. Inurnment of her ashes will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be left in Carol's name to the American Cancer Society.
Carol was born on December 1, 1937, in Chicago, the daughter of Leroy and Dorothy Mueller. She married Edward J. Sierens "DePaepe" on September 15, 1956 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1970.
Carol was a graduate of Alleman High School in 1955 and later studied as a bookkeeper in Chicago. Mrs. Sierens had been employed as a bookkeeper for many years with Schneffs Jewelers, Davenport, IA, retiring in 2001.
She loved spending time with her family and her special card club friends. Her hobbies included cross stitching, quilting, shopping, fishing, and walking the beaches collecting seashells. Carol also belonged to many clubs, sailboat, The rock Hounds, and a ski club. She adored her cat Ramsey and enjoyed her raccoons that would come to visit her nightly. Her very special talent was playing the piano.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children and spouses, Len and Debra Sierens, Whitley City, KY, Mark and Lisa Sierens, Pace, FL, Dan and Sherri Sierens, Phoenix, AZ, Victoria "Tori" and Tim Coutts, Moline; grandchildren, Sondra, Dennis(Janna), Traci, Charlie, Tyler(Sarah), Holly, Jeremy(Jenny), Jon(Angie) Sierens , Jamie Rebello, Dustin(Renea) Phelps, Brittney(Brandon) Anderson, Briar Leonard and 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; son, Scott Sierens; grandson, Jason Sierens; brother, James Mueller and long time friend, Kenny Shelton.
