December 17, 1941 – August 10, 2017
Carol A. Grawe, 75 of East Moline, formerly of Milan, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island.
A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E 4th Ave., Milan, commencing with a Christian Wake service at 2 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Monday at Christ The King Catholic Church of Moline. Memorials may be made to Christ The King Catholic Church.
Carol A. Scherbring was born Dec. 17, 1941 in Dyersville, Iowa, a daughter of Richard and Frances Fischbach Scherbring. Carol married Daniel L. Grawe on May 21, 1960 in Dyersville. They happily enjoyed 52 years of marriage prior to his death on Oct. 16, 2012.
Carol worked many years at Montgomery Ward, Moline and retired with esteemed regard from J.C. Penny, Moline.
Carol enjoyed spending her summers at Paradise Park in Pharr, Texas. She actively participated in the community, swimming, and socializing with friends. Carol also regularly attended the Moline Activity Center, where she had many friends and enjoyed playing cards. Above all her greatest love and achievement was her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Julie A. Grawe, Moline, Robert J. (Karen) Grawe, Austin, Texas, Kenneth R. (Kim) Grawe, Moline and Mike L. (Lesley) Grawe, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota; grandchildren, Stacey (Jeff) Decker, Corey, Austin, Danny, Destiny, Ryan and Mariah; great grandchildren, Noah, Lily and Brayli; and sisters, Marilyn Lewey, Dubuque, Iowa, Sharon Hunt, Bettendorf, Jeanne Eudaley, Dubuque and Judi Smigel, Buffalo, N.Y. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
