Carol J. Schweiss, 73, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at home. Services for Mrs. Schweiss will be 11 am, Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 pm to 7 pm, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quad Cities Animal Welfare Center, Milan. Carol was born on July 14, 1944 in Rock Island, a daughter of William and Shirley (Sherer) Phelps. She married Walter Schweiss on September 11, 1965 in East Moline. Carol worked as a medical transcriptionist for Trinity Medical Center for 35 years. She enjoyed scrapbooking, reading, baking, the theater and going to her grandchildren's sporting events. She was a member of National Association of Medical Transcriptionist and a had served as past president of the local chapter. Survivors include her husband, Walter; children, Victoria Spevak, Carbon Cliff and William Schweiss, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Matthew (Kearisten) Whelan, Austin Whelan and Nathan Whelan; siblings, Michael (Ginger) Phelps, Davenport, Theresa Daniel, Moline and Peggy (Kenny) Laud, East Moline.
