Carol E. Shoup, 74, of Rock Island, Illinois passed away Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Milan American Legion Saturday, November 14, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00p.m. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center (https://qcawc.org) in Carol’s memory.

Carol was born on July 2, 1952, in Highland, Illinois, a daughter of Robert D. and Betty J. (Atteberry) Hargrave. She married Terry McCleary in 1971, with whom she had two sons Robert and Michael. She later married Ronald Shoup on November, 17, 2005.

Carol worked in the office at Norcross (formerly Servus Rubber) for 18 years. She found joy in the beauty of nature and treasured time spent at camp by the lake, surrounded by family and friends. A caring and compassionate person, Carol was always willing to lend a hand and offer comfort to others. Her love and kindness extended to animals as well, reflecting her gentle and generous heart.

Those left to cherish Carol’s memory include her children Robert B. (Amanda) McCleary of Sherrard, and Michael L. (Jillian) McCleary of Eldridge; grandchildren, Samuel McCleary, Zachary McCleary, Tyler McCleary, and Norah McCleary; and siblings, William (Beth) Hargrave, and Sue (Mike) Poleet.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Ronald.
