After moving to Rock Island in 1952, Carol worked at the former Tuberculosis Sanatorium.  After attending Black Hawk College, she pursued her duties as a Medical Transcriptionist.  She started work at Lutheran Hospital and retired from Trinity Medical Center.  After retirement, Carol started her own transcription service and worked for many doctors and clinics in the area.  She worked for Dr. Richard Retz for 13 years.  She also volunteered at Alternatives For The Older Adult, working in money management.

Carol was a kind and gentle person who loved her family very much.  She also loved to write short stories about growing up in Nebraska during the depression years.  Many of her stories about Eastern Nebraska and living through the dust storms, grasshoppers, and the great drought were published in Bill Wundrum's column.

Carol is survived by three sons, Timothy (Helen) of Davenport, IA; Jon (Sherry) of Moline, IL, and Mark (Ann) of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Haley (John) Crow of Maryville, TN, Kelly Moss of Aledo, IL, Katie (Eric) Ohnoutka of Lincoln, NE, Timothy (Beth) Kozak of Lincoln, NE, Jarrod (Leslie) Moss of Moline, IL, Beth (Howard) Hathorne of Rock Island, Laura (Shawn) Petersen of Aledo, IL, and Larry (Danielle) Stone of Moline, IL; great-grandchildren, David, Johnna, Johnelle, Zach, Chase, Kinsey, David, Brayden, Kaylee, Josh, Jordan, Jayla, Mia, Alexis, Brandon, Alexa, Jordan, Taylor, Isla, Olivia, and Erika; and several nieces and nephews in Nebraska.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Ray Jr. and Bill; and sister-in-law, Barbara Moss .

We are thankful to have had Carol in our lives this long to guide and love us for so many years.  She was a special grandmother.  She loved to have her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit and was always interested in their lives.  They will miss her greatly as will her family and friends.
