Carol Jean Swenson, 82, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022, at First United Presbyterian Church, 801 16th St., Moline, with visitation one-hour prior to services. Visitation will also be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Inurnment will be at a later date in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Pregnancy Resources, YouthHope, or First United Presbyterian Church.

Carol was born July 11, 1940, in Moline, a daughter of Harold and Doris (Clayton) Wenos. She married Dennis Andrew Swenson on September 19, 1959, at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2019. Carol was an active member of First United Presbyterian Church in Moline, volunteered with Christian Family Care, and was a co-founder of the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She also co-owned Carden Collectibles with her late husband. Carol enjoyed genealogy, traveling, playing cards, and praying for her family and friends. Above all, Carol loved spending time with her family and friends.

Those left to cherish Carol's memory include her children, Sharon (Kirk) Hakanson, Lynn (Mark) Rognstad, David Swenson, and Rob (Cheryl) Swenson; grandchildren, Robin (Brian) Grunder, Shawn Hakanson, Kirbi (Brandon) Stone, Morgan (Marc) Yerry, Kaylyn Hakanson, Amy Rognstad, Emerson Swenson, Steven (Kim Marie) Sullivan, and Allyse Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Nathan Paulsen, Marisa Paulsen, Claire Paulsen, Danielle Paulsen, Gavyn Cowan, Beckett Yerry, and Eden Yerry; sister, Gail Wenos; brothers, David (Jeanne) Wenos and Richard (Colleen) Wenos; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Logan Swenson; and great-granddaughter, Adalyn Gedde.
