Obituary

Carole J. Tingle, of Rock Island, joined her Creator in Heaven on March 9, 2015 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 13 at Two Rivers United Methodist Church, 1820 5th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is at 4 to 8 pm Thursday, March 12 at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or to the Niabi Zoo Carole Tingle Giraffe Memorial.

Carole was born November 25, 1938 in El Centro, Calif., a daughter of Lloyd and Bernice (Black) Edwards. She married Thomas G. Tingle, Jr., Aug. 18, 1957, in Canton, Mo. She was a 1957 graduate from Rock Island High School.

Carole started her working career at Servus Rubber in Rock Island shortly after graduating from Rock Island Senior High School. She later attended Black Hawk College where she received her nursing degree. She began her nursing career at Illini Hospital in Silvis. She later worked at the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center in Davenport, where she worked for many years as the nursing supervisor for the phlebotomy unit. She was also a phlebotomy instructor at Augustana College. Ever the entrepreneur, she then started her own catering company, CJ Benjamin's, which operated until 1989. Later, she enjoyed using her tremendously creative talents while working at Staacks Florist's in Moline for many years. Carole was always there to love and support her three boys and thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her eight grandkids. She was an active volunteer with the ladies hospital auxiliary, and her love and passion was photographing newborn babies at Trinity Hospital for many years.

She will continue to be loved and remembered on this earth by her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas L. and Patti Tingle, Shawnee, Kan., William G. and Amy Tingle, Ladue, Mo., and Terrance M. and Peggy Tingle, Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Benjamin, Matthew, Alexander, Jessica, Nicholas, Jordan, Abigail, and Rachel; future great-granddaughter, "Bug"; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill L and Dixie Edwards, Sherman, Tex., and Michael and Ellon Edwards, Enterprise, Ala.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Yvonne Tingle, Rock Island, and Paul and Nancy Tingle, Danielson, Conn.; and her loving friend, Wayne Shellhouse, Rock Island.

Carole was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Always a lady, she was a strong, loving and gentle woman. She will be missed by many.
