Caroline A. Ortiz, known to many as Carol, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in Rock Island, Illinois, at the age of 80.  Visitation will be from at 1:00-2:00 pm with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave in Rock Island.

Born in 1945, in Moline, IL, Carol graduated from Rock Island High School in 1963 and continued her education at Black Hawk College. She built a dedicated career, first working for Servus Rubber before joining John Deere as a parts picker. During her time at John Deere, she was actively involved with UAW Locals 79 and 865 and contributed to The Women's Committees. She retired in 2007 after years of hard work and commitment. In retirement, Carol embraced life's simple joys. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching her favorite game shows, spending peaceful moments on the porch with her dog, chatting with neighbors, and trying her luck at the slots. She had a deep love for angels and collected artwork and sculptures that reflected this passion.  More than anything she loved her family. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pauline "Art & Dollie," as well as her brothers Art, Dick, and Jim. She is survived by her son, Art; son-in-law, Sean—who took care of her—and a brother, Pete. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her.
