Caroline "Jane" Cooper, 95, of Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home & Crematory, Rock Island. Mass, for Jane, will be 10 am, Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, she had requested that memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Jane was born January 24, 1921 in Hannibal, Missouri, a daughter of Glen Lankford and Lela (Powell) Lankford. She married Alfred Cooper on January 12, 1939 in Hannibal. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1997.  Mrs. Cooper worked as  the bookkeeper at J.J. Newberry Company in Rock Island for many years. She retired, and was a homemaker in her later years. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island.

Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Banks, Port Byron; a foster son, Jay Eng, Rock Island; grandchildren, Grant K. Engels, Rock Island, Robert A. (Rita) Elsbury  New Windsor and Faythe A. (Tonnie) Farwell, Rock Island; a sister, Jo Ann Szesny, Merrillville, Ind. and her children, Adeana, William, Steven Szesny and 7 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; a infant daughter, Rebecca; and 3 brothers, 7 sisters and 4 nieces.
