Carolyn L. Johnson, 66, of Davenport, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Greater Antioch Baptist Church, Rock Island.  Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.  Burial is at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Carolyn was born on November 16, 1956 in Water Valley, MS, the daughter of Y.C. Benson and Irene Johnson.  She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1976. She received her BSW Degree from the University of Iowa, where she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She was employed with the Seventh Judicial District Department of Correctional Services as a Parole/Probation Officer II.  Her career began there in September of 1986 and she retired in September of 2017.

Carolyn was one of the founding members of the Greater Antioch Baptist Church, and remained an active member in her roles as Trustee, choir member, and the youth ministry.  Carolyn was a very dedicated member of society and her community. She led voter registry efforts for years, and has served as President of both Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and the Davenport Youth Metro Com Branch, of the NAACP.

Carolyn is survived by her mother, Irene Johnson; siblings, Bettye (Randy) McCray, Shebra Johnson-Miller, Gerri Johnson, Audrea Johnson, and Tamara Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, special cousins, and extended family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her father; and brothers, Larry Johnson and Terry (Rhonda) Johnson Sr.
