Carolyn was born on September 30, 1941, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of Oscar and Martha Johnson. She later married the love of her life Dennis Hitchcock on August 20, 1966, in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Carolyn was the most loving, caring, compassionate person anyone could ever meet. She was a very proud kindergarten teacher for over 40 years with the Sherrard School District and previously in Minnesota and California. In 1977 she and her family founded Circa '21. With her love, dedication and support it has been a success.
She was a devoted member of Swedona Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and Church Council. Carolyn was also a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially tutoring her great grandson, Alex and attending her grandchildren, Kailee and Mason's school activities and events; decorating their home for every season and holiday; gardening; shopping and traveling.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis; son, Brett Hitchcock (Christina Chambers), New Windsor; daughter and son in law, Darcy (John) McCaw, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Kailee and Mason McCaw; great grandson, Alex Hitchcock; and her beloved companion, Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Martha, granddaughter, Sarah Hitchcock and brother, Richard Johnson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Constantino, Nurse Practitioners, Heather and Megan and his entire staff, as well as the Unity Point Hospice team, for the devoted care Carolyn received throughout her 14-year battle with cancer. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com.
