Carolyn J
Krapp
January 17, 1924 – August 17, 2014
On August 17, 2014 Carolyn J. Krapp, of Coal Valley, and her husband,
George F. Krapp, were reunited after 15 years apart. She left this
world at the age of 90 at Unity Point Health Trinity, Rock Island, after
raising three children, and having worked at various places such as
Chance-Vought Aircraft, Howland's, Hawley Hardware, Curran Volkswagon
and Schrier Brothers. She was active for almost three decades in Boy
Scouts and a leader in Girl Scouts. In her younger days, she was a
member of Port Five Navel Auxillary and a nurse's aide. She was part of
the church choir at both St. Mark's, Stratford, CT. as well as St.
Ambrose, Milan. In her later years she was a member of the Blue Cross
Medical Mission, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Hat Society.
Carolyn was born on January 17, 1924 to Edward F. and Isabel Atwood
McCourt in Bridgeport, CT. She married George F. Krapp on September 25,
1943 in St. James Church, Stratford, Ct. He preceded her in death on
August 28, 1999.
She is survived by three children, Deirdre M. (Patrick) DeAngelis, Gary
F. (Donna) Krapp and Colin J. (Darla) Krapp; one "adopted daughter", Helen
Hartel; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; half sister, Harriet
I. Leno; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, George;
brother, Edward McCourt and will once again be able to make trouble with
her best friend, Marge Reed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Friday at St. Ambrose
Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm Thursday at
Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Further services are pending at
Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, Stratford, CT. Followed by burial in St.
Michael's Cemetery, Stratford, CT.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Ambrose Church.
