Caryl M. Fleming, 89, of Bettendorf, died Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  A private family memorial service will be at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.  Inurnment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, Davenport.  Memorials may be made in care of The American Heart Association and St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Caryl was born Wood River, Illinois on October 15, 1932, a daughter of Adolf and Emma Berry Neuhaus.  She graduated from the University of Illinois.

Caryl married James L. Fleming on June 26, 1965 in La Grange Park, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on March 2, 2021.

Caryl was teacher who had the opportunity to teach all over the country.  She last taught for the Bettendorf School District.

Caryl was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Mark (Andrea) Fleming, Bettendorf and James (Tammy) Fleming, Marietta, Ga.; grandchildren, Katherine, James, Jordan, Rebecca, Raymond, Collier and Hudson; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Hayden, Luke and Jacob; and sister, Beverly Thomas, Portland, Maine.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Forest and Jack, and a sister Gloria.
