Casstellar Ellis, 92, of Rock Island, died Thursday, March 21, 2019 at her home.  Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Avenue, Rock Island.  Visitation will be from 10-11 am Friday at the Knox Chapel.  Burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island.  Memorials may be made in care of New Life Apostolic Church, East Moline.

Casstellar was born in Merdian, Mississippi, on November 28, 1926, a daughter of John and Sallie Winston Deering.  She married Jimmie Lee Ellis on April 17, 1944.  He preceded her in death.

Casstellar was an avid baseball fan.  She especially loved her beloved Cubs and celebrated their World Series win in 2016.  She also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, DeWitt Ellis, Richard Ellis, Derrick Ellis and Cleveland Ellis; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children, Jimmie Ellis Jr., Johnny Ellis, Sylvester Ellis, Eileen Ellis, brother, Willie Derring and grandchildren, Kenyatta Ellis and Darianna Ellis.
