Catherine "Cathy" M. Young, 64, of Rock Island, passed away December 21, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Memorials may be made in care of the family. A celebration of life will be held after the service at 3:00 pm at the Rock Island Boat Club.

Catherine was born September 28, 1959, in Waukegan, IL, to Walter R. Johnson and Fairy Mae Fontenoy. She attended Black Hawk College, where she got her associates. She married Gregory Young on December 14, 2004.

Cathy was well known, well liked, and greeted everyone with a warm smile. She left an impression on all she came across. Cathy enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, and puzzling. She loved being around family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Fairy Mae; husband, Greg; children, Raymond Gray, ReJeana Gray, Nicky Gray, Marie Pauley; step-children, Tiffany Tapia, Justin Manley; many grandchildren; a couple great-grandchildren; and siblings, Roy Johnson, Terry Johnson, and Margie Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Sarah B. Hansen; father, Walter; and brother, Butch Pepper.
