Cecelia Marie Kale, 72, of East Peoria, passed away with loved ones at bedside on December 19, 2021.

A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00pm Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be left in her name to TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter, Pekin, IL.

She was born on September 13, 1949 to Edward & Francis (Harris) Hakes in Davenport, Iowa. Cecelia married William Kale on December 14, 1968 in Milan, IL.

Cecelia grew up in Davenport, Iowa where she graduated from West High School. She worked as an administrative assistant at various businesses before becoming a homemaker and raising her son to school age. She returned to work for the Rock Island Arsenal for 20 years and retired in 2005.

Cecelia's hobbies included arts and crafts, such as sewing and scrapbooking. She was an excellent baker known for her delicious confectionaries. She also enjoyed reading and thrift shopping. She loved cats and dogs and had several pets over the years. She treasured spending time with her two grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mom and grandmother.

She is also survived by her husband, William; son, Travis Kale; daughter-in-law, Michelle Brussel; two grandkids, Noah and Ella Kale; three brothers, Jeff, Bryon, and Richard Hakes; and two sisters-in-law, Bridget Kane and Sue Hinz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Francis Hakes; one sister, Barbara Tillberg; and two brothers, David and Robert Hakes.
