Charlene was born on August 15, 1935, in Rock Island, IL, a daughter of Charles and Helen (Tates) Bell. She was a proud graduate of Rock Island High School and often kept up with the class of '53. Char went on to marry Richard "Dick" L. Crosby on September 5, 1953 in Rock Island and they enjoyed over 67 years of marriage before his passing on October 22, 2020.
Charlene dedicated more than 30 years of her career to IH Farmall, where she worked as a payroll and insurance clerk. After retiring, she went on to work at Jumers Casino as a blackjack and roulette dealer for over 3 years.
Her passions included listening to Elvis, testing her trivia knowledge on *Jeopardy*, and engaging friends and family in spirited Friday night poker games. An avid sports fan, she cheered passionately for the Chicago Cubs and remained a devoted follower of NASCAR, particularly of her favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. Charlene was deeply involved in her community, participating in numerous organizations like the Rock Island Family Campers, the Girls Club, and the PTA, demonstrating her commitment to her children's education and personal growth.
Charlene's legacy extends beyond her professional life; her family was the cornerstone of her existence. She created many memories as she cheered on her children and grandchildren at various events, always ready to lend an ear or offer support. Known for her enthusiasm and energy, she even joined a slow-pitch softball team at the age of 44, proving that age was merely a number.
Those left to cherish Charlene's memory include her children, June (Dan) McIntire, Sue (Brad) Fritz, Dave (Tina) Crosby, and Donna (Tom) Hunsinger; daughter-in-law, Robin Crosby; grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Shayla, Amber, Jessica, Holly, Tabatha, Stacey, Trisha, Tony, and Mitch; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
