Charlene J. Nelson Taylor, 87, Moline, IL passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Charter Senior Living, Moline. A private graveside ceremony will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the QC Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Charlene was born on December 22, 1936 to Dorothy (Lathrop) and Walter Eugene Hunt Jr. in Rose Hill, IA. She grew up in Rose Hill where she attended school.

On June 2, 1956 she was united in marriage to Douglas Nelson Jr. in Rock Island. The couple made their home and raised their three daughters in Rock Island. They remained married until his passing in 1991.

On February 7, 1998 she married Paul Taylor in Montgomery, IN where they lived for several years before Charlene moved back to the Quad Cities after his passing.

Charlene loved shopping, especially on QVC, and had an extensive jewelry collection. She played the lottery every week sure she would "win the pot". Charlene was very active and enjoyed going to restaurants, painting classes, and doing other arts and crafts. At home, she liked tending to her garden and feeding her birds. Charlene loved animals and people, always taking care of all of those that she could.

Charlene will be greatly missed by her daughters, Tamey Johnson, Pam (David) Catlett, and Laurie (David) Kotecki; grandchildren, Jeremy (Andrea Walker) Minear, Lindsey (Doug) Peterson, Aubry (Brad) Anderson, and Amber (Chris) Newberry; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Rylee, Raine, Mavrik, Brynnley, Olivia and Oakley; brother, Terry (Sandi) Grace; sister-in-law, Barb Brower; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded by her parents and husbands.
