Charlene P. "Char" Sundelius, 83, of Moline, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial is at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Sundelius / Swanson Family Scholarship at Augustana College.

Charlene P. Swanson was born June 18, 1931 in Woodstock, Ill., a daughter of Frank and Nora Idella Ohnstad Swanson. She married Dr. Harold W. Sundelius on May 21, 1955 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, Ill.

Char attended Augustana College. In addition to being a homemaker, she sold real estate for Glen Laurer Real Estate in Springfield, Ohio.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island. She was involved in many community service organizations including, Urban League Guild, Springfield, Ohio, P. E.O. Sisterhood, and the YWCA board of directors in Rock Island. Char enjoyed traveling, sewing, knitting and tending to her perennial gardens. Her greatest love was for her family, especially her husband, Harold; daughters, Karin and Kristine; and her grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory, are her husband, Harold; daughters and sons-in-law, Karin Sundelius (Gary Risch), Oconomowoc, Wis., and Kristine (Brad) Lundine, Villa Park, Ill.; grandchildren, Andrew Pappas (fiancée, Cassie Pekul), Milwaukee, Wis., Matthew Pappas, Milwaukee, Sarah Lundine, Chicago, Anna Lundine, Villa Park, Elizabeth Lundine, Rock Island, and Mark Lundine, Rock Island; brother, Kenneth (Gloria) Swanson, Rockton, Ill., sister, Anita (Allen) Freund, Wausau, Wis.; sister-in-law, Lorian Sundelius Swanson, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews; and her special care givers, Christine Cornelis Sanchez and Retha Bender. She was preceded in death by her parents.
