Obituary

Charles L. Bellinger, 99, of Reynolds, Ill., passed away Sunday April 29, 2018 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island, Ill. His gentle kindness and pleasant personality touched many lives for almost a century.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 7th, at the Reynolds United Methodist Church, Reynolds, Ill. Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6th, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 801 W. Edgington St., Reynolds. Memorials may be made to Reynolds United Methodist Church, 313 W. Edgington St., Reynolds, IL 61279 or to Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, 733 3rd Ave., Ste 510, New York, NY 10017.

Charles Lee Bellinger was born June 30, 1918 in Alexis, Ill., a son of Charles Lee and Laura Mustoe Bellinger. He moved to Reynolds at the age of 7, thus has been in the Reynolds community for 2 months short of 93 years. He married Lettie Sarah Lloyd in 1947 in Muscatine, Iowa. Together they bought a farm northwest of Reynolds where he enjoyed farming livestock and crops and she taught school in the Rockridge District. He also drove a school bus for 18 years. They were married 54 wonderful years before she preceded him in death on October 16, 2001.

Charles was a life-long member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church. He had served as a trustee on the building committee for the church when a new addition was added years ago and sang in the choir. Through the years he also was a member of Farm Bureau and a former Edgington Township trustee. He enjoyed playing the organ in later years and belonged to an organ club which was recently highlighted on KWQZ T.V. He and his late wife loved to travel and were on all seven continents and many countries including Antarctica, Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, Panama, Mexico, Canada and all 50 states and capitals. Through the years, Charles also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and bowling.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Joe Kinnett, Selma, Ind.; son and daughter-in-law, Randal C. and Robin Bellinger, West Lafayette, Ind.; grandson, Seth Kinnett, Chicago, Ill.;  step grandchildren, Shane (Lori) Kinnett, Fortville, Ind., Troye (Barb) Kinnett, Indianapolis, Ind., Michael (Jessica) Prokop, Waukesha, Wis., and Kari (Doug) Schutz, Pewaukee, Wis.; eight step great-grandchildren; four step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and additional family.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Gladys Bell, and one brother, David Bellinger.
