Rev. Charles B. Pendleton, 71, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, June 27, 2016 at Fort Armstrong in Rock Island, after a long battle with heart disease.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service.  Inurnment will be held at a later date at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Charles had a wonderful childhood in Storm Lake, Iowa.  He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1963, then Buena Vista University in 1967.  He found his calling in the need to help others, attending Dubuque Theological Seminary before being ordained to the Presbyterian ministry.  In later years, Charles also served as the Customer Relations Manager at Courtesy Car City.  He often talked of how he enjoyed both the customers and especially his co-workers.

While he did many interesting things in his life, his greatest adventure was marrying Dana (Patti) Bentley on October 19, 1974.  They had two children, Philip (Debbie) of Davenport, and Elizabeth, of Rock Island.  He also had four unique grandchildren, Rebecca, Emilie, Ryan and Zachary.  Charles is also survived by his mother, Pheraby Pendleton of Bettendorf.
