March 21, 1930 – April 14, 2016
Charlotte A. Jordan, 86, of Rock Island, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Friendship Manor - Silver Cross, Rock Island.
An Informal Gathering/Visitation will be at 1:00 with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:30 in the Chapel at Friendship Manor on Saturday, April 30th. Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be made to Friendship Manor - Silver Cross, Rock Island, Quad City Paws, or Beacon of Hope Hospice in her memory. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charlotte was born on March 21, 1930 in Galesburg, the daughter of Carl "Earl" C. and Lillian (Lepper) Brehm. She married Cecil Garrett Jordan on December 26, 1950 in Galesburg. She and her husband lived in Galesburg until 1972 when they moved to Davenport, Iowa. After that they resided in Oneida, Illinois for a short period before moving to Apopka, Florida. When her husband Garrett died, Char moved to Rock Island, Illinois to be closer to her children. In 2010 she went to Silver Cross Nursing Home where she was loved and taken care of by some of the most amazing Nurses, CNAs, and Staff up until the very second of her passing.
Charlotte is survived by her four children, Amy Jordan, Davenport, Mollie (Larry) Newburg, Milan, David (Jill) Jordan, Oak Park, IL, and Dan Jordan, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Nick Newburg, Isaac Jordan, Sam Jordan, and Lucy Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Garrett Jordan; parents, Earl and Lillian Brehm; and brother, Earl Brehm.
Char graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948. In her later years, she attended Scott Community College to earn her Interior Decorating Degree. She also owned a gift shop in Davenport called Char's Web. She then went on to get her Real Estate License. Char was active in all of the churches she attended. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School to the little ones. She was also active in Hospital Auxiliaries, was President of Pilot Club, and was the Treasurer in Oneida, Illinois.
