Cheryl Fay Piper, 73, of Geneseo, formerly Rock Island, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, Iowa.
A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. In honor of Cheryl's life, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.
Born on September 11, 1951, in Silvis, Illinois, Cheryl was the cherished daughter of James and Ola (Padgett) Duncan. She graduated from Moline High School in 1969 and went on to earn her nursing certification from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing. With over 40 years of service as a registered nurse, Cheryl touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise before retiring in 2015.
On August 21, 1971, Cheryl married Thomas D. Piper in Moline. Together, they built a loving home filled with warmth and joy. Cheryl found immense fulfillment in caring for her family, and she expressed her love through cooking, gardening, and sharing her passion for music. Memories of the time spent at Woodhaven Lakes in Sublette, Illinois, will forever hold a special place in her family's hearts.
Those left to cherish Cheryl's memory include her husband of 53 years, Tom; children, Tracey (Zach Williams) Doran, Jessica (Matthew) Hancks, and Amanda (Rose) Piper-Bleuer; grandchildren, Caitlyn Doran, Eddie Doran, Thomas Doran, Lorna Williams, Chelsey (Lemone) McNeal, Michael Lamb II, Audrey Lamb, and Samantha Hancks; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Jimmy Duncan; and beloved black lab, Dooley.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Duncan; and beloved chocolate lab, Maggie.
