Chico Newman, 47, of Rock Island, passed away Tuesday August 3, 2021.

Private services for family and close friends will be held at 2pm Friday September 10, 2021 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. The family will greet close friends from 1pm till service time at the funeral home.

Chico was born on July 1, 1974 in Davenport, the son on Paul and Arnette Newman. He had married Crystal Johnson, with whom he had two precious children.

Mr. Newman had been employed by Pipeliners Local Union 798. He loved spending time with his family, music, traveling and his cars.

Survivors include his mother, Arnette Echols; children, Sierra Ellis, Tarique Newman, Naseem Newman; siblings, Tonia Newman, Rashima Newman, Mario Echols; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Crystal and father, Paul Newman.
