Christine E. "Tina" Buckwalter, 86, of Milan, IL, passed away Sunday June 26, 2016 at UnityPoint-Trinity, Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2nd, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.
Christine was born February 5, 1930 in Palmyra, MO, a daughter of Emmett and Elizabeth (Kroeger) Powell. She married Daniel Buckwalter in February of 1947 in Palmyra. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2003
Christine was a waitress for many years with several area restaurants, including The Corn Crib, Lou's, and Comfort Harbor. She also will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the highlight of her life, especially her grandchildren.
Christine was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed going to the area casinos.
Surviving are her children, Greg Buckwalter, Rock Island, Gary Buckwalter, and his wife Patty, Andalusia, Jill Miller, Tucson, AZ, and Larry Buckwalter, Rock Island; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Bertha Guthrie and Ann Young, both of Quincy, IL; brothers, Robert and Leo Powell, both of Palmyra, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Danny Buckwalter; three sisters; and three brothers.
