Christopher Michael Viren, 18, of Rock Island, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island.  Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island.  Visitation is 4 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30.  Memorials may be made to QC Paws or to the River Music Experience (RME).

Christopher was born Jan. 4, 1999 in Rock Island, a son of Michael G. and Holly S. Young Viren.  He attended the Black Hawk Area Education Center, East Moline.

He enjoyed music, especially Jimmy Buffet and was also a football and NASCAR fan.  Christopher loved traveling around the country camping with his grandpa and grandma.

Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Holly and Christopher Huntley and Michael Viren, all of Rock Island; stepbrothers, Dominic and John Huntley, Rock Island; grandparents, Jim and Sandy Young, Rock Island, Teresa Huntley, Rock Island, Richard and Sun He Viren, Waynesville, Mo., and Dianne Ramirez, Rock Island; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Donald Huntley.
