Bennett Jr.
April 3, 1935 – March 6, 2026
Clarence “Hank” Bennett Jr., 90, of Milan, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026, at his home.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, Illinois, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Hank was born on April 3, 1935, in Rock Island County, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Annebelle (Ihrig) Bennett. He graduated from Sherrard High School in 1953 and married Sharon I. Roberts in 1955.
Hank worked for many years as a carpenter with Carpenters Local Union 166, retiring in 2000. He was a proud member of the union for nearly 70 years. In retirement, he continued to stay active working as a driver for the Greater Quad City Auto Auction, a job he greatly enjoyed.
He was a member of the Edwards River Antique Engine Association and volunteered at the Quad City Expo Center through the Rock Island Conservation Club. In his younger years, Hank enjoyed snowmobiling and traveling to Branson, Missouri. Throughout his life, he especially enjoyed fishing, collecting tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Hank’s memory include his wife, Sharon; son, Mark Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Michael Jones; and grandchildren, Lindsay (Ryan) Satterlee, Samuel (Emma) Bennett, and Maxwell (Kenzie) Bennett.
Hank was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Dorothy Wilhite, Betty Beam, James Bennett, Larry Bennett, and Melvin Kolls.
Hank’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his caregiver, Callie Hartman and her team, especially Mary Beth and Brooke, as well as his visiting nurses, particularly Nurse Tiffany, and the UnityPoint Home Hospice team, especially Alyesa and Alexis, for their compassionate care and support.
