Clarence "Sy" LeRoy DeLoose, 93, of Milan, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Due to COVID-19, the service and visitation will only be for the closest family members and friends of the deceased. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, 4700 53rd St., Moline. The service will be live-streamed and can be viewed online starting at 11 a.m. on Thursday by visiting https://vimeo.com/497041367 . Visitation is one-hour prior at the church. Private burial will follow in Preemption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family for the college education of Clarence's great grandchildren.
Clarence was born on December 3, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois, a son of Charles DeLoose and Goldie Dryoel. He married Gretta Hinson on April 30, 1949 and she preceded him in death. Clarence started and owned DeLoose Used Auto Parts which provided used car parts for avid collectors and antique car buffs for many years. He also worked for the City of Rock Island for 25 years. Clarence was a member of the Moline Gospel Temple Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was known for transporting carloads of children to church. Clarence was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, boating, camping, and all kinds of hunting, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition, Clarence loved watching the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears and Cubs, and NASCAR races. He also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Most of all, Clarence loved Jesus.
Survivors include his children, Vicky (Steve) Miller, Milan, and Michael (Lisa) DeLoose, Moline; grandchildren, Shawn Miller, Sonya (Tim) Clifton, Tiffany Miller, Michael (Elizabeth) DeLoose Jr., Sarah (Daniel) Foster, Bryan (Janee) DeLoose, Chad (Michelle) DeLoose, and Abigail (Brian) Yost; great grandchildren, Gage, Sophia, Ellah, Cole, Emmalyn, Bryson, Joslyn, Ellaina, Nya, Caden, Carlee, Isaiah, and Leah.
Clarence was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Gretta; mother and step-father, Goldie and Joseph Dryoel; father, Charles; and great grandson, Rylan Foster.
