Obituary

Conan C. Dalton, 40, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Services for Conan will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rock Island High School Field House. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial will be at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Conan Dalton Memorial Fund; Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf; or the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics Palliative Care Program.
Conan was born January 5, 1974, in Moline, the eldest child of Jack M. Dalton and Lynn Miles Dalton. In 1992, he graduated from United Township High School. He married Gretta Miller on June 12, 2004, in Rock Island.
Conan worked in sales at the Sports Depot, Rock Island, and previously owned and operated a lawn care/landscaping business. Conan was active in athletics his entire life, as a player in his youth, as a coach and adviser later, and as a University of Michigan Wolverines fan always. He was head coach of the Rock Island High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team. Conan was also coach and board member of the Rock Island Futbol Club, and he had previously coached soccer for Sherrard and Geneseo as well as boys soccer and both girls and boys basketball for Rock Island.
Survivors include his wife, Gretta; son, C. Henry Dalton; daughter due in February, Emily Grace; father, Jack M. Dalton, Moline; mother, Lynn Miles (Erick Danielson), Moline; siblings, Megan Ferguson, Moline, Cory Dalton, St. Louis, Whitney Dietz, Davenport, and Amanda Dietz, Davenport; father- and mother-in-law, James and Sharon Miller, Milan; grandmother-in-law, Frances McCaw, Viola; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Valerie and Mike Breitbach; Jennifer and Steve Ballard; Joseph and Lisa Miller; and Travis Miller; and 13 nieces and nephews.
Conan was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Isabella Rose; maternal grandparents, Henry and Zelma Miles; paternal grandparents, Richard "Jack" and Coletta "Ted" Dalton; and a nephew, Nathan Wessels.
