Constance J. "Connie" Moran, 70, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Symphony Orchestra or the Quad City Botanical Center.

Connie J. Welch was born Feb. 17, 1944 in Moline, a daughter of Paul A. and Mary R. Wood Welch. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1962 and from Augustana College in 1966. Connie married Gary A. Moran on August 16, 1964 in Rock Island. He died May 20, 2006.

She had taught school for 20 years in the Rock Island and then Silvis school districts.

Connie enjoyed lunch with friends, Rocky basketball games, writing letters, making cards, Quad City Music Guild, the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, the Quad City Botanical Center, and HD broadcasts of the Metropolitan Opera. She was also an avid reader and gifted gardener.

She is survived by her beloved children, Kathi (Mike) Ferrero, Rockford and Mark (Lori) Moran, Rock Island; grandchildren, Grace and Rose Moran and Natasha and Mason Ferrero, each to whom she was devoted; her mother, Mary Welch, Rock Island; and brothers, Brad "Bud" Welch, Rock Island and Bill (Jane) Welch, Decatur, Ill. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
